Trinity Church (Dreifaltigkeitskirche)

The Trinity Church or Dreifaltigkeitskirche is one of four churches that Baroque super-star architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach built in Salzburg. The other three are the Kollegienkirche (Collegiate Church, his masterpiece), the Krankenhauskirche St. Johannes in Salzburg's main hospital and the Markuskirche for the Ursulinen nunnery. The Dreifaltigkeitskirche is the focal point of the Makartplatz square with a whole bunch of attractions: The Landestheater (the province's theatre), one entrance to the Mirabell Gardens, the living place of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (now a museum) and the birthplace of physicist Christian Doppler, to name but a few. Sadly, the Makartplatz is an important traffic hub and thus rather noisy and not the most pleasant corner of Salzburg.
